Training

We will soon have a complete training program available for you here. In the meantime, keep in mind that training should begin the day you bring your puppy home. There is a common myth that formal training should not begin until a puppy is six months old. If you wait this long to start your training, not only do you end up having to adapt to your puppies learning methods instead of the other way around, but with a Saint Bernard puppy, you end up with a puppy larger than many full grown dogs, with no manners.

Find a good trainer in your area, observe some of their classes, talk to some of their students, and then sign your puppy up. But remember, training classes are more for you than they are for your puppy. If you are not going to do the work at home in between classes you are wasting your time and hard earned money!
